Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Production Manager for our client based in Braintree on a permanent basis.

 

Our client manufactures and supplies Cast Metal Products for the engineering and construction sectors including stair nosings and cast metal facades.

 

This is an excellent opportunity to work within an organisation with a varied project workload and excellent scope for progression. The job is to ensure the smooth day to day running of the Production Department. You will take full responsibility of every order from issue of production documents to delivery to the customer.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for H&S of the workshop and machinery within the department.
  • Responsible for training of workshop team.
  • Scheduling and allocating works to your team to ensure production targets are met.
  • Completing monthly reports.
  • Provide minutes of H&S meetings with appropriate actions for each department.
  • Maintain stock levels of critical consumable items PPE, Tools, manufacturing consumables etc.
  • Be available at short notice (outside normal working hours) to remain onsite to achieve any urgent requirements such as delivery of goods, receipt of deliveries specific to your area etc.
  • Attend management meetings as required.
  • Disciplinaries of your team.
  • Annual appraisals of you team identifying training requirements and targets for improvement.
  • Production training to be updated regularly.
  • Attend and report at production meetings weekly.
  • Supervise production procedures.
  • End of month stock taking.
  • Planning of production.
  • Assist in planning and implementation of new project installations.
  • Engagement and liaison with sub-contractors within your department.
  • Supervision of staff working in your immediate area.
  • Responsibility for Lean Manufacturing initiative and tidiness of your area.
  • Supervision of apprentices/trainees when allocated.
  • Provide feedback to Senior Managers and Directors.
  • Suggest improvements to procedures, equipment, operating methods etc. to increase efficiency.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Minimum qualification to NVQ Level 3 Advanced in Mechanical Production Engineering (Craft and Technician) but ideally HNC or HND level and above.
  • Management or Supervisory Training e.g., ILM level 3 or above (ideally level 5)
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification advantageous.
  • 5-7+ years’ experience as a Technician/Engineer in a mechanical production role.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience as a manager of a department (ideally engineering).
  • Experience 5+ years of team working (5 or more people).
  • Ideally have 5 GCSE’s including Maths & English and Science (C or above).
  • A very good working knowledge of Windows and MS Office
  • Ideally, experience of Microsoft Dynamics ERP System or similar software.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Strong team working and interpersonal skills but also able to work on your own initiative.
  • Organised and tidy.
  • Ability to solve problems effectively.

 

Working hours are Monday – Friday 7.00am – 3.30pm.

 

In return our client is offering a salary of £32,500 – £37,500, dependant on qualifications and experience.

 

Our client also offers 30 days annual leave per annum (8 statutory days plus 22 days), annual FSEG event, attendance bonus £1 per hour worked (standard contracted hours only), annual bonus (not guaranteed), company pension scheme, Christmas vouchers, workwear provided and laundered, onsite canteen with free fruit, coffee/tea, milk and cold water machine, onsite parking.
